Chronic Illness & Disability Advocate

Erica was diagnosed with Lupus at 18 years old. Five years later, she co-founded Suffering the Silence, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of the lived experience of chronic illness and disability. Their work has been featured in HuffPost, Insider, Cosmopolitan, PBS News Hour, and more. This began her journey of speaking out publicly about her life with lupus and advocating with and for the chronic illness & disability community as a whole. She has spoken about chronic illness at Yale School of Nursing, Weill Cornell Medical College, Wonder Woman Tech Conference and has been featured on Awesomeness TV, WebMD, The Mighty, Uninvisible Podcast, Pain Podcast, and more. Erica was a member of the Lupus Foundation of America’s Southern California Advocacy Committee.
